More this and that from Paris

  • This time last year we were having a bad  HEAT WAVE! This year the temperature is 71 degrees.
I'm not complaining.
Isn't this Parisian dad sweet with his kiddies? I snapped them from the bus.
Break out the Bolly. I read it in the Guardian. One month after France ended its strict 8-week lockdown, there has been no rise in coronavirus cases as life returns towards normality. Yay🍾
 The peonies are back 🍾
As are the fraises/strawberries in lush gateaux.
Ice cream of course.
The constant mushrooming of outdoor cafes is astonishing. Paris Cafe Culture is alive and well.
Why did I think everyone would continue baking bread at home when in fact they are lining up to sit down in any cafe with table and chairs.
Extra pavement space has been given over to add more tables with great ingenuity.
Even Pierre Hermé has opened outdoor cafés throughout Paris. Maybe they should make a smaller cup for the single scoop😳🍦🐻Thanks for reading Parisbreakfast. Please share with a friend. Subscribe to my letters 💌 and maps and receive Paris in your mailbox 📮

    2. Read the Guardian article:
The number of new Covid-19 cases continued to drop even as most of France reopened for business – while maintaining physical distancing and protection measures – with the number of additional deaths down to its lowest figure since March.

France’s health authorities say there are only 933 patients in intensive care with the virus across the country, down from a peak of 7,148 in April, and the number of new admissions to emergency units was 20 in the last 24 hours. This figure has not been above 50 in the last three weeks.

  5. Look at those peonies and strawberries! Just beautiful. Our lockdown restrictions are being nibbled away at by the British government but mostly to serve themselves, I think. Cases are much higher over here than in France. Thank goodness my work is still closed.

    1. It was typical French beaurcracy(sp)! One hour allowed out per day with DOCUMENTATION!
No testing that I heard of. Not many masks either.
I was waiting for the ambulance to come so did mostly nothing..sometimes I ran from the bed to the fridge. About 6 yards...I did cheat some days and went out 2X. They know me very well at my local Carrefort

  9. So glad Paris is alive and doing so well - the opposite of us with our continued openings and skyrocketing cases. I went to the pharmacy & grocery yesterday (my first shopping since mid-March) and it was OK - most people wearing masks & not crowded but our mask rule goes away as of today. I will wear one of course. Leas and I just reserved an apt in Paris for next May so, fingers crossed, we will see you then.

  10. Very good on your covid stats. I wish we could say the same. Ours continue to go up, especially in states that opened too fast. Andnow trump is insisting on having his campaign rallies with thousands of people. That's a disaster waiting to happen. On many levels! Stay well!

So lovely to see your beautiful city return to life again!
The river looks cleaner..is that a possibility? They say there are dolphins in the canals of Venice....no pollution anymore. Don't know if that's true or not!
Thank you again for the joy you bring to us all. As Mr. Roger's said to the children, in time of crisis, "Look for the helpers...there are ALWAYS helpers surrounding you in time of need." You, Carol, are one of our treasured helpers. Thank you!
