Paris Pastry Map

Coming up with an idea for the PARIS MAP is always a bit of a struggle.
Then I remembered there are 11-12 DISTINCTIVE DESSERTS born in Paris. Et  voila! Please try to taste every one of them next visit PBers.

The closest Paris desserts I could 'research' nearby under Lockdown were the golden financier and a bag of chouqettes at BOULANGER DE LA TOUR

Adorable Carla Lalli Music of fun, relaxed BON APPETIT TEST KITCHEN makes Pierre Hermรฉ's puff pastry.

Its the base of so many classic Parisian pastries: cream puffs, Saint Honorฤ™, eclairs, religieuse and the chouquette. Recipe HERE

We can all thank CATHERINE DE MEDICI for bringing her own pastry chefs (Popolino created chou pastry) to France when she married Henri II in 1600.

And another hug to queen Marie for bringing MACARONS into existence, later refined by chef Pierre Desfontaine in 1862.
Pretend you're in Paris with this short, sweet video.
It inspired me to imagine I was walking in to get some pistache and rose macarons.
My very 1st Paris map was for Jill Colonna's book, Teatime in Paris. Jill is baking easy almond tuiles on YOUTUBE this week. I never for one minute imagined I'd be doing monthly maps back then. Ha.
Yesterday was
the 1st un-locked day in Paris. It started out blustery with 19 mph winds. Bear ๐Ÿป did not want to venture outside. At all. Fortunately we gathered up our courage, masked up and were thrilled to find our favorite copy shop open๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป Hooray๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘The Paris Breakfast shop
is open and cookin'. "Hand me the envelopes" Please ๐Ÿ’Œ๐Ÿ’Œ๐Ÿ’Œ Stay safe dear PBers ❤️

  5. I love that map but it will make me hungry every time I look at it. Be careful out there & take unlockdown slowly - we need you & Bear to stay safe & healthy.

    1. Oh I'm going at it very slowly. Lockdown is my usual state anyway?
The pools and museums dont open till June anyway. I'm not tearing to get out there though I did hit my fav stationary store yesterday.

  6. Carol, your monthly map is absolutely stunning - and I’m so proud that you painted that scrumptious map to show off the recipes in teatime. I think the best part of Teatime in Paris was going to your apartment in Ile Sainte Louis and making financiers from the book together with Bear. Best time ever! Thanks so much for the link up to the video! Please look after yourself.

  7. It looks good enough to eat! And so, too, do the lovely end paper maps in Jill's book. I'm sure the research was excruciating and I admire that you were able to buck up and take it on with good grace! Well done!

Although we can’t be in Paris at the moment eating these scrumptious desserts, i fortunately have Jill Colonna’s wonderful book, Tea Time in Paris. I’m off to the kitchen to whip up the next-best-thing: a treat from Jill’s book. Your posts are always inspiring. And thanks for the link to puff pastry.
