Paris at night

I was going to post on something different but this weekend has been a sad one. I learned my sister was good friends with a victim of the synagogue shooting in Pittsburg.
The beauty of Paris can be restorative. Now I'm walking more I'm discovering more of the island I'm so lucky to live on.
Sometimes visitors ask me if its OK to walk around Paris at night. I think it is.
The calm. The peacefulness. The lights on the Seine. It grounds you.
Right now the wind is blustery outside. We're having an early taste of Winter this weekend and its too cold for a night walk.
Sending you warm wishes ☕️ From Paris XOXO Carol and 🐻

  1. I am sorry about the loss of your sisters friend. It is indeed a sad time all over the world, so much tragedy.

I have spent many nights walking around Paris, alone and with friends. I think for the most part it is safe but as always you have to be aware of your surroundings.

    Have a peaceful week.

  2. My sympathies to your sister.
It's been a while since I've walked around Paris alone at night but I used to do it all the time. I would go tango dancing until 2 or 3 a.m. and often would not find a taxi (it was pre-Uber, and anyway, I won't use Uber). I'd walk all the way across Paris (good thing dancers always carry their dance shoes and I had good walking shoes for coming and going). Sometimes cars would slow to offer me a lift, but I'd decline, saying I was just arriving home, even though it wasn't true, and they wouldn't insist. I never felt unsafe.

  10. These are beautiful photos that capture a feeling of peace & inspiration. After the tragic event in Pittsburgh, we are all in need of grounding.
Cannot begin to fathom these hate crimes. Innocent victims at Saturday worship, my thoughts are with their families.
