You can walk under so many bridges, all different in design. There are 36 ponts. I've walked under about 5 so far...
Are these trawlers? They bring jam and butter to Paris. They were much missed when the Seine was high in March.
Morning light is stunning. But morning doesn't begin until 7:05am these days. I'm not one to walk in the pitch dark.
American painter EDWARD HOPPER may have walked the same path while living in Paris for 2 years. He said it took him 10 years to get over Europe once back in Greenwich village.
I've been told my Arcopedico shoes are not good for proper walking. All suggestions are welcome. My feet are not a pretty sight...wide and bumpy. I have absolutely no problem finding a proper breakfast post-promenade. Walking is a wonderful way, maybe the best way to see Paris. Come join me! Thanks for reading Parisbreakfast. If you'd like to receive Parisbreakfast letters and maps in your mailbox ๐ฌ, look in my Etsy shop.
BONNE WALKIES!
I wondered where your light show was..will Google!I love your pics and paints..my feet are wide with a very high arch from many preteen years of ballet and I think genes from someone along the line.I love my Keens. They look like a Mary Jane with 2 straps. Can walk and walk.
ReplyDeleteAny interest in giving tours?I think you would be great!
Or an art lesson or two at fave spots?:)
Givng Art lessons definitely!
DeleteI dont know about tours...hmmm
Maybe after I've been walking longer..qui sait?
I have natural born flat feet from day one.
I wear DrScholl Activ Gel inside my present shoes and my feet feel fine..
But everyone says....
Funny (NOT!!) - you look like you have the left-side bunion (so do I - no sandals in summer for moi - waaaaaaaaa!)
ReplyDeleteAhem...I think I have bunions on both sides :()
DeleteDid the artist Hopper mean that ("get over") statement in a good way?
ReplyDeleteHe clearly missed Europe, but he certainly evolved from there!
DeleteLove the photos (and watercolor)!
ReplyDelete60 degree high here in Denver today - 87 tomorrow!
I am so happy to see the Pont des Arts free of those ugly locks of love. Too bad they had to resort to plexiglass to keep the locks off. I was able to enjoy the bridge back in 2006 before the locks became a craze. Love the photos! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI know exactly how you feel Cheryl!
DeleteSadly the idiots are now putting them on lamposts now
I want to take wire cutters and have a go at them,!
Grrrrrr
Love this post! Did my thesis on Edward Hopper!
ReplyDeleteActually coming to Paris next week! Can’t wait!
Hi Carol!
ReplyDeleteI have same situation with my feet! Best shoe ever #1 ARA (style LUCY) has built in slices of vents where our bumps are. The other is WOLKY check out their wedge sandals. I'll email you both!
Thank you for the Great suggestions Lynn !!
DeleteLove walking anywhere in Paris, but especially along the Seine. My foot problem is feet that are very, very narrow so I walk right out of almost all shoes. I'm always looking for one that will remain on my feet.
ReplyDeleteA week from today I will be in Paris! So excite -- staying at a spot called Les Jardins du Eiffel and hope to be making some of these very same walks! The Lumiere des Artistes is on my calendar, either Friday or Saturday. Do you have a special time you might be visiting on one of those days and I'll try to get my ticket for the same time. Nothing would make me more excited than to see Carol G. of Paris B. in person!
ReplyDeleteThe Klimt light show? I saw it last week Jeanie. I might avoid the weekend..maybe more crowded than on a weekday when we went..
DeleteI'll see you by the Seine!
My favorite are Mephisto "Rush" walking shoes - a little pricey. And they are available in Paris !! The walking shoes tend to be wider than average, plenty of room for foot/toe issues. I have been wearing for over 25 years and never any problem. Even possible to get them resoled.

I have logged thousands of miles, in Paris and elsewhere, in SKETCHERS!
ReplyDeleteLove them for my wide feet with high arches 70 year old feet......I own a variety of styles, all washable, and am currently putting on about 12 miles each day, enjoying the Oregon coast. Order from their web site.
Enjoy!
regarding FOOTWEAR! Fortunately, you are in exactly the right place bc Arche, a French label, is THE BESt footwear for walking in the entire world. Their leather will conform to your foot while giving support. My favorite is the Baryky model (a SOFT bootie with crepes sole) although I have others I love almost as must. I have done a 3 week walking tour (covering 4 countries) in 2 pairs of Baryky’s and not had a single moment of discomfort. They are pricey but the last and they totally have made all my other shoes second class citizens.
ReplyDeleteCio and thanks again for the Beauty you create
I will definitely check them out Kay
DeleteTHANKS
Walking along the Seine was my favorite activity when in Paris several years ago. I love KEENS for walking and I have wide bumpy feet too....but you won’t pass for a Parisian wearing them!
ReplyDeleteYou would be very surprisedat the big running shoes Parisians wear everyday!
DeleteShocking IMHO ๐ณ๐ณ
KEENS are in France!

Tres belle photos! Walking is my raison d'etre - keep it up! ๐
ReplyDeleteWhat shoes do you wear Anabella?
DeleteYour feet are just like mine...keep on walking and sending us the beautiful pictures.
ReplyDeleteThank you,
Will do so long as they are NOT MY FEET!
DeleteExcept when I get the NEW SHOES !!!
Good to see you back in Paris. And what a terrific walk/ cheers
ReplyDeleteI highly recommend DANSKO ballet-type sneakers. I’ve logged hundreds of walking miles on them and they aren’t too bulky, allow my feet to breathe and are comfy! They are a couple seasons ago, so your only purchase options are likely online. Several colors. I have two :)
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your blog immensely, as I love your painting style and I greatly miss my Paris work layovers :)
Good luck in your search for comfy shoes!
