I have been in Carcassonne since Sunday, so far away from Notre Dame disastre. I am doing a drawing 'stage' or workshop with Jeremy Soheylian.
Turrets, crenelated stone walls, archways. We are drawing them all. Well some are more successful than others...ahem
This is Martine of Lyon sketching. She cleverly brought along soap bubbles to blow in moments of frustration with these turrets, walls and archways.

Clever Lise of Limoux ( not far from here) has the best sketching stool. My 3-legged tripod is hurting my back something terrible. I will leave it here. More grrrr

Our favorite resto (take a cab; it's hard to find): le Clos des Framboisiers. Very delicious (a small menu but something for every taste), reasonably priced and a beautiful setting.
No, no thank goodness. I was 5 minutes walk from the Cité. Bristol is next to the train station!! Would have been a bad choice. I was late every day meeting the group as is.
DeleteNo time or energy left after clocking in 7 hours of intensive drawing. We got an hour off at 1:30 for a sandwich.

End of day Just rolled into bed, put the tv on and dropped off.

La blanquette de Limoux est un vin mousseux, protégé par une AOC. Son terroir viticole se situe dans le département de l'Aude, à 25 kilomètres de Carcassonne. Ce secteur produit aussi un autre vin effervescent, le crémant de Limoux et un vin tranquille, le Limoux (AOC).

ReplyDeleteSince you are in Carcasonne, I must share a book I listened to recently, ‘Narrow Dog to Carcasonne’ by Terry Darlington. It made me laugh out loud, the reader makes it so funny.

Spent many hours in Carcassonne with my semester abroad students. It was a good place to celebrate birthdays.

DeleteWhatever's at hand Rebecca. I carry with me usually a Flair pen, Pentel 'Touch' pen in different colors, Pentel Brush Pen, and my latest is a Tombow fudenosuke brush pen (hard).
Plus always Pentex ultra micro white corrector!!! For bad lines.

Great photos and sketches of Carcassonne! Another place I need to visit. You should have a do nothing holiday, at least a week of nothing much is amazing :)
