Peony or Ranunculus ?

The gauntlet has been thrown down (a metal glove worn by knights in the Middle Ages. When challenged to joust someone would throw down their glove). Name this flower PBers!

I bought this bunch of _____ at the marché Bastille Sunday for a mere 4€. Name the fleur!
Someone is getting a nice surprise.

Well that's how I read this bouquet of pinks and deep, dark red?

Hmmm...3 guesses?
OK, Trick question. Even I know this one!

At Giverny...loverly non?

Also at Giverny.

A week ago walking down rue Saint-Honore passing Hotel Oriental,
I was floored by this wallflower arrangement!!
Yesterday I passed by again and the - - - - - - - were out full blown!

What to drink with your peonies? A pretty Rose of course.
What to munch with your Rose? Mini madeleines framboise non?

And these very special dragee, the best from Sicily, Avola made by Adams. More Peonies to come.

  6. You are so cute. I just saw someone selling poppy seed on her Etsy in that very color. I thought they only came in gold and orange. I love what ever color that color. You can google Antelope Poppy Reserve to see fields of golden poppies - if you are so inclined. :)

  7. The vertical peonies are superb! The peonies in Jardin des Plantes were in bloom in mid-May when I was there. They were as big as dinner plates! Love peonies---so many of them here in Maryland, too.

  11. You have done the world s service by setting the flowers straight. But you will have to weed the garden very early to fool moi.

Wonderful flowers! And what a good brain teaser. I love the wall of flowers is so clever. Nice how Peonies slowly open and turn into a different shape. Beautiful Giverny and all the textures. Good job!

I had no idea that peonies were celebrated in such style in Paris, I shouldn't be surprised. I have them in the front and in the backyard. Your post was so lovely to read. I wish that I was there, it will have to wait until next year.
