I'm cooling off in HQ Apple London and the best place to post.
Natch I picked up a new paintbox - a mini Kremer set from AP Fitzpatrick (33£). It used to be on Amazon..then the very nice folks sent me to Atlantic art supply, maybe the biggest art shop world-wide? They have my favorite brushes, Da Vinci Junior Synthetic, which I discovered is made especially for kindergarten children. Who knew? I still love em and they last pretty long. I had not been to Brick Lane before - a FAB place to go if you're looking for vintage anything and ethnic eats. Loaders of fun! I'm including a few shots inside the club and the daily work of art I'm eating here -> Pret a Manger's crawfish sandwich.
Stay cool PBers!
That looks like another fine epicerie to me..Those would be the stores I would open my wallet for..art supplies and food supplies..
ReplyDeleteGreat tip on the brushes..must make you feel young at heart(wait..you already are ..)..
Love those old wood sets..wow wow wow..not for travel but for love of looking at:)
Hey..I don't travel! Perfect.
They must be dear?
Une belle belle tomate..love the thumbnail/stamp in the corner too.

ReplyDeleteaI MUST spend my life savings on one of those fab antique painting sets, preferably the one with the feather and marbled paper. Do you think it would improve my painting?
ReplyDeleteI have added your art supply stores to my To-do list for Britain. Yes, I plan to be there some day. Do you think the set will still be there?
Better to get a box with no chipped enamel no?
DeleteFor show only methinks..
Glad you are having fun in London. It is really hot and sunny for these parts! You should check out the Beigel Bake on Brick Lane for a salt beef bagel if you are into that sort of thing. As near to New York as you will probably get in the UK. Also there is a cool coffee shop on Hanbury called Nude Espresso.
ReplyDeleteToo late, too late
DeleteI looked in Beigal but there was no AC
So I went elsewhere
Thanks for pointing me at Atlantis Art materials. I buy a lot on line from Bromley but will be taking a serious look at Atlantis.
ReplyDeleteSandwich - yum!
ReplyDeletePaint supplies - Oh beautiful!
Walking down the lane - priceless!
Wow, truly beautiful, makes me want to jump on a flight and be in London.
ReplyDeleteI love the interiors of the art store, but the shots of the food vendors is even more appealing!
ReplyDeleteI'll take a delicious art store anyday and no calories
DeleteOMG what I wouldn't give to have that Art store here. I really miss a nice Art Store. All we have is a small Micheal's that carry's next to nothing. I would never surface out of there. :)Glad you are enjoying London even in the heat.
ReplyDeleteWould love to go back to Brick lane and check out your tips on art supplies. I just remember eating wonderful Indian food with English and Aussie friends there.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't figure out what photo #3 is? Between the two clowns and the charming vintage paint sets. Anyone know?
Oh that's a feathered lampshade at the club
DeleteLoved the patterns
I'd be lost without you! Enjoy your visit. I agree that temps in a city (all that pavement and concret mass) is much much hotter in a city w/o so much concrete. And Seattle, built on hills and surrounded by water, definately feels cooler...
Deletemiss Brick Lane and the flower market in Columbia Road on sunday morning ..
ReplyDeleteSo many good things I didn't ge t to do but it was a constant battle with the beastly hot weather
Deleteinteresting reportage ,beautiful pics ,thank You.
ReplyDeleteHope you survived the day! I just checked and the high in London and Seattle are just the same today, 82 degrees.
ReplyDeleteCarolyn
It felt like 90s or 100 in London
DeleteNot manageable heat at all!
Wild crawfish and rocket sandwich, London, here I come!
ReplyDeleteThat art supply store looks like an artist's dream come true.
Beautiful series of pictures, Carol, merci for braving the heart and share them!
Stay cool,
