Many Thanks to Meeting The French and Ohlala Maman I went to see the film, Seaching For Sugar Man yesterday
This is such a dont-miss I can't tell you - the story, the back story, the MUSIC, the Man (Rodriguez). A heartbreaker yet it put me on such a high, I floated out of the theater...
And went searching for color on the streets of Paris
Not much color on Parisian streets...
But plenty in the shop windows..
But plenty more in the shops like Antoine et Lilli..
Sweet dreams of a pink summer...
Francois Pralus is thinking Summer all year round - the most colorful chocolatier on the planet.
Perfect to put in your Summer picnic basket no?
Pink roses like Rosé wine spell out Spring/Summer in a big way.
Throw some petals on the ground to feel Summery
Or get a gateau full of red berries et voila!
This weekend if you're in Paris come to the 7th annual festival of le Perigord a Montmartre to feast on regional wines, foie gras, + canard whatever...
If you're not in Paris just get out the frais, asperges and an umbrella (since rain is always likely).
I just went to market and bought in season asparagus:) Have a little post prepared..

One thing that amazes me..is who buys all those prettily colored clothes if no one in Paris wears them?
Do they wear them "en cachette"?

I never leave Paris without picking up a little something at their Canal St Martin boutique (my brother works right next door...) I can't wait! :-) Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

I saw a piece on Sugarman and it was amazing he was so popular, but not in the States. He sure is now though. Guess his playdates are full finally.

60 Minutes did a piece on him last year (or more). I think you can see it on their site. It is amazing in this day and time this could happen without anyone being aware. Americans do not seem to pay attention to what is going on in other countries. Except me - I want to know what is going on in France, :)

Glad you mentioned Sugarman (Rodriques) in your blog today. I just saw him "live in concert" this past Saturday (here in Atlanta). There were lots of So. Africans in the audience. The place was packed. He is on a world tour, so maybe you can catch him in Paris. He is very humble, now 70, and very sweet. The way he sang "Just One of Those Things" by Cole Porter was terrific.

Sugarman yes, yes, yes on my list, thank you for the rec. So glad you posted those blue, blue platforms and so want. Had white asperges twice on Monday...true that it's only in season for three weeks?
ReplyDeleteI grew up in South Africa during the 1980's listening to Rodriguez.I went to watch the movie with my son who is a 'born free'ie not under the regime and for the first time he began to understand my fear of the BLUE SAFARI SUIT(the security police's uniform at the time)Rodriguez was the sound of student resistance.I love his music and what he stands for.Hopefully now the world will come to appreciate his music which can be bought online from any of the South African music sites.

ReplyDeleteI read your blog today and noticed that you went to see “Searching for Sugar Man”. This guy has been a huge hit in South Africa since the ‘70s (as you would have seen in the movie) and I’ve been to two of his concerts although he comes here often.
ReplyDeleteI was quite surprised when I originally found out that he was virtually unknown outside of SA. The movie was also a big hit at the Oscars or some other award ceremony (I don’t bother to keep up with Hollywood) and was much discussed here as many people have been to a concert, or at least know about him.
