In Paris I spotted a new book on Italian-born "French" fashion illustrator René Gruau (1909-2004).
Did you watch the 2009 American Music Awards Last night. No color to speak of. Even crazy Lady didn't put her red on...
In the '50s and 60's Rene Gruau waved his red wand and did wonders for Dior, Balmain, Lanvin, the Lido, Moulin Rouge, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar..
Fabulous line drawing with touches of red were his signature...
The touch of red/rouge is Paris' signature too in my opinion...
It's omnipresent...
What other town features red the way Paris does? Set me right puleeze.

When in doubt,,choose red. I went to an event the other day in Cologne, Germany and atleast half the women had on RED...it was unbelieveable. Purple is the in color here right now but who can resist red? I have a warm red wall in my living room too. Brings energy into the room and what painting does not look good on warm red wall.

Yep. I have a lot of purple/lilac/grape/aubergine this season. Buy it when you can. I don't wear red clothing but have many red accessories, all from Italy. It livens things up & makes me feel great.

ReplyDeleteI saw this "collier" for dog last week in Champs Elysées Lancel store... They presented their dog collection last Monday.
Love the hounds at the cafe watercolor..slrping water from a champagne bucket no less!

politics aside,
there are some great reds around here,
but I would probably say blue-greens are more the accent here.
Nothing better than a splash of red as long as it isn't blood.
ReplyDeleteI created a whole ad campaign once in this vein. Everything black and white with one red item in the shot. It was the most enjoyable campaign I worked on.
