Drawing by Rick Tulka
I mentioned Rick Tulka's Walking Man previously...I've been seeing "walking Parisiens"... Everywhere I go...Even Paris moms do it. *Please note it's a straight-legged gait...
Could this be the clue to Why French Women Don't Get Fat? And not because they eat leek soup 6X a week..?OK, toes together, get ready... And stride PB readers!
(I hung out the loo window at Angelina's on rue de Rivoli to get this shot for you.) *Note even while leche-vitrine in pastry shop windows, Parisiens do the stride stance... Men do it while snacking in the street...And while standing still.
Isn't there a marked resemblance to this Paris monument?

HA!HA! Carol, you are beginning to see Paris through my eyes. I have been enjoying your visit, even though I live here.
ReplyDeletecharming...makes me want to get my city walk on. I live in Sacramento, where I'm part farmer, but when I'm in San Francisco I walk with way more edge.
ReplyDeleteAh,ah,ah, you get a lot of inspiration in Paris!!! I miss NYC!
ReplyDeletePetite mendigote, j'adore, I would like all the bags and clutches.
Not a silly thought at all, it's all true according to those pictures. Great Post

ReplyDeleteThis is great. I love seeing everyone walking. Do you see any walking the walk with a dog?
ReplyDeleteYour posts have been great this visit. Loving it all.
Very funny and an inventive post. Illustrated with great photos as always!
ReplyDelete(I want a striped shirt, too!)
ROFLOL!!! Love it. Must now practice stride. Could be how they can eat all those macarons.
ReplyDeleteLove that pink shade on the store front! and the two guys in front of berthillon.
ReplyDeleteDelicious, fun, and filling breakfast! Also, thanks to your interesting perspective shot, "loo hanging" may become all the rage. Merci
ReplyDeleteAnd it's such a long stride. Must practice that.
ReplyDeleteWith the new knee I can do anything!!!

My favorite walking man is the Giacometti sketch for one of his scupltures. Same stride! I had it hanging on my dorm room wall--lo these many years ago.
ReplyDeleteBonjour Carol,
ReplyDeleteI am truly enjoying my vicarious walks through Paris via your photos! Seeing these really make me want to return soon. Continue to have a marvelous journey and please keep the pictures coming.
BONNE JOURNEE!!!
What can I say I fell in love 10 years ago with the “city of lights” and I am still in love.
ReplyDeleteWhen I die take me to Paris!

What an interesting observation, I had never thought of that after years of walking the Paris streets!
ReplyDeleteLove the photos. You have such a keen eye!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to "walk the walk" when I reach Paris in September. But what I'm really waiting for is the chance to buy one of your gorgeous artworks from your Etsy shop upon your return. I've just discovered your blog, and it is such fun. Thank you for sharing your joie de vivre with us all.
ReplyDeleteLOLOL! You are spot on with the Tour Eiffel! But what's with that guy snacking and walking in the street? Are you sure he's French? I thought the French disdained eating anywhere except a la table? Please set me straight.
ReplyDeleteLove the "loo" shot!

Dear Mistress,
ReplyDeleteParis has been liberated AGAIN.
Sadly everyone now walks and EATS in the street.
Quelle dommage :(
Is it le Fast food that caused this?
I have seen people "picnicing" on the Metro!
There is no end to this horrid tragedy...
Grumble...grumble..
Merci, Carol -- your anecdotes about la vie parisienne always make me smile!

My name is Carol and I live in Sydney Australia. I just thought I'd tell you how much I enjoy your work and the fun you bring. I love reading your Paris breakfasts and I do admire your devotion to your blog. I've been to Paris myself and love it so much, however I certainly didn't become a part of it as you have. I now would love to do it all again and see it as you do.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work,
you make me smile every time day.
Regards,
Carol

ReplyDeleteI love your works too!
nice day and good luck!
hugs,
Judit
