Where is the first place you go when you land in Paris religiously?
Maybe it's because I used to go every Sunday to Fauchon
There are tons of macarons!
Boxes and boxes...
Long, square....
Plus individually packed...
And bien sur decorating gateaux like crazy...
It's the craziness of Fauchon that appeals to me...
The nutty over-the-topness of it all...
And they (like moi) LOVE the geometrie!!! 
I had lunch in this geometric crazy box. I dragged the box home and of course it fell to pieces. Craziness is not meant to last...
Wish I had dragged this box home, though I do have the cup and drink out of it daily. So where is the first place you head for in Paris?

ReplyDeletefirst place i go is actually Eric Kaiser's patisserie on reu des ecoles because i stay just down the street from it! i have lunch, and get a baguette and some macarons and sme candies and bring them home...then i go immediately to instirut de beauté on st germaine and stock up on lesser priced beauty supplies...every time...
Crazy for these.. and I hope that lasts for a while. May I please have a spoon to scoop everyone of those raspberries up? What fun with geometry.
ReplyDeleteIt has been ages since I 've been to Paris, but I would want a bowl of cafe au lait and a REAL croissant toute suite! Immediatement! And I would have to people watch for at least an hour and find that shop with those terrace plants you showed, and go over to the Ritz and then George Cinq to see their flowers and just be for awhile. And then , and then.. I would just explore again. Just soak it all in. Oh and there would be chocolate.
And that box of macarons.. WOW. Beautiful light filled piece. Brava. BTW

ReplyDeleteI haven't been in Paris in ages, but since I just got back from Monaco et les environs, I guess the next time I'm Paris I'd head to Laduree for a couple of pistachio macs! I discovered Laduree (thanks to Paris Breakfasts)in Monaco and loved it. I'd also immediately buy another Laduree plastic tote bag so that I could carry all my macs etc. around Paris in it. I use mine daily while commuting to work on the subway.

We head to Gerard Mulot - near Grand Hotel des Balcon, where we stay - for some delicious goodies(usualy croissants, macarons (pistachio, rose/raspberry) & take them to the Luxembourg Gardens, grab a garden chair & this always helps make the transition from home to plane to PARIS in style

I head to Café Marly when I land in Paris. It’s the perfect lunch spot after a long overnight flight. I like to sit outside overlooking the Louvre - sipping a nice glass of champagne, nibbling a fresh bite to eat and breathing a sigh of happiness.

ReplyDeleteFor some reason, usually the terrace of the bar Le Bonaparte in St Germain. Good for watching the va-et-vient of the locals with a bottle of red and a snack, and in winter they have the terrace heaters out to make it cosy. You can take in Les Deux Magots from there, too - without having to pay the prices! I am about to spend a w/e in Paris and will be heading there tomorrow ...

ReplyDeleteUmm, maison du chocolat has to be my first love. However I just love walking the streets and staring at the patisseries windows from the street. Such inspiration I get from them and bring back to the states! Haven't been in a while though need to get back soon! What a lovely site you have!

ReplyDeleteMy first stop recently was the Galleries Lafayette. The serve a simple but delicious quicke in their cafeteria that gently coaxes the jet-lagged back to life. A walk out on their top floor is a great vista on Paris, and don't forget to check out Sacre Coeur hiding behind you. Finally, I walk through their cosmetics department and adore the beautiful dome above. I would love to see what your brushes would do with that dome.

I have been to Fauchon more that once and it creares addiction. Is impossible to be fed up of such luxury and good taste. How I wish to go there...may be on June?!
ReplyDeleteAfter I check in to my hotel I head to Cafe Danton on St Germain for a cafe creme. I then go to the Monoprix to buy another setting of flatware. I have been collecting it for years.

What a gorgeous place! Our art museum serves lunch boxes just like Fauchon!!! And it owns Boulevard du Capuchines (SP??) one of my all-time faves of Monet! Afraid that's as close as I get to Paris, so THAT must be where I go first!
ReplyDeletewe usually stay in the 7th...so our first stop is usually to see the eiffel tower. we don't even go near it, just view it from the end near the ecole militaire. i know that is typical, but i love that big ol' lady. makes me tear up every time.
