75007 Paris

Remember I mentioned PB reader, Susanne, who lives in the 7th arron.

Well yesterday I did it. I booked my March trip to Paris. And I'll be staying in Susanne's pied-a-terre. This gorgeous hunk of quiche we ate comes from the boulangerie right downstairs by the way.

Susanne has moved on to a tiny village in Vermont. Yes it's true. I wonder if she's taken her blue and white treasures with her. Or will I get a chance to paint them. Susanne's place is a flea market shoppers dream, in case you didn't already notice.

Shhhhhh!

I took my camera into the loo, so I could show you all her treasures lurking everywhere.

Did I mention that Susanne's place is on the 6th floor?
I'm working out as I write this, prepping for climbing up those stairs.

I expect to collapse regularly into this cafe nearby.

If I get homesick (never happens) there's the cafe Tribeca on rue Cler.

The fleamarket was closing by the time I got there but it looked terrific! I have to admit I've never been to rue Cler before. Dommage

It's a very good thing I will have those millions of stairs to walk daily. If YOU have any suggestions of stuff I should do in the 7th do tell S.V.P.!BONNE REVE!

    That's so great that you're going to Paris in March. I always delay making flight reservations as well, but I did just book for the month of April. I've found an apartment in the 6th and am so excited! When you're there in March, could you please alert us readers about any particularly wonderful art exhibits or brocantes coming up? Or even musical events in one of the historic buildings? You've created a monster....I'm dying to go to one of those chocolate festivals after seeing all your photos a few months back!

    i leave for italy the 15th of this month...doing the tuscany stuff and then south to visit family in rome and do things in-around. of course rome is not paris but it will be good to be back again.

    We usually stay just up the Avenue from you - Hotel Eber Mars with a view of the Eiffel Tower from our balcony - c'est magnifique!! and only 110Euros per night. Rue Cler just around the corner - great for breakfast, market shopping, etc. Bon Voyage!!!

  14. I'm so glad to hear about your upcoming Paris trip and look forward to being there with you via your photos and watercolors. I'm taking an oil painting class (I was inspired by you and this blog to learn to paint). I was thinking about doing an interior next (I need to work on my angles)--may I use your photo of the interior of the cafe? I love so many things about it and think it would make a charming small oil. Please let me know what you think. Thank you!

  15. Hi, I just stumbled across your blog and bookmarked it- love your paintings of all things paris, and I've loved Paris ever since studying there in '92..now I live in Munich, but was just there last weekend and stayed in Rue Cler neighborhood- its lovely!
    Funny, I just started a blog to document past travels, starting with Paris (and its the only post right now!) about the Rue Cler neighborhood- mostly just eating my way through it:)

    My favorite cafe in the VIIeme is the Terrasse on the corner of Avenue Bosquet & Avenue de la Motte Piquet (right outside the Metro Ecole-Militaire). Directly across the street in a great stationer/book store.

    How wonderful. You'll be in Paris eating , drinking, paining and photographing all the chocolates! While I'll be trying to get my new knee working.

    I have been enjoying receiving your Paris Breakfasts blog daily since searching frantically on the Internet for a macaron fix a year or so ago. Thanks so much for brightening my mornings!

    I wanted to share with you, looking at the location of your intended next visit, that there is a wonderful Indo-Pak restaurant nearby on Avenue Rapp called New Jawad that was very convenient to a place we last stayed just around the corner from where it looks like you will be staying. We rented the lovely Fleurie from Paris Perfect on that particular trip.

    It was such a lovely neighborhood, and our two young children were able to play with other children at the smaller, lesser-known parks in the area. We had been contemplating a return in March during Spring Break since we are expecting our 3rd in July and we probably won't travel for another year ... your blog just gave me the oomph to look at frequent flyer ticket availability again!!

  26. Did I say the wrong thing by asking to paint the cafe interior? I didn't mean to offend--I just like the image--I would only use it for my own entertainment and would certainly always tell people where the photo had come from.

  34. Brava, I am happy for you that you are book and almost ready to fly the coop! :-)

    I wonder if the French count the floors like the Viennese and Romans do: they don't count the rez-de-chaussée - the American First Floor - and start only from the floor above, the American 2nd floor becoming the first floor, and so on.

    That "Fiori di Capri" perfume bottle speaks of sunny summer days on a beautiful island in the gulf of Neaples. I could need a few hours of sunshine to break up all they grey here.

    What lovely photos! I've a passion for blue and white as well-an obsession passes down through the generations.
    The photo of your friend's blue and white mugs struck me as awfully familiar. I have a very similar, if not the same, collection of mugs. I worked for Crabtree and Evelyn for many years and collected the annual treasured startin in 1987.
