Chateau Vaux le Vicomte2

Cache pot at Vaux, original watercolor, 5.5" x 7.5"
Brought back by popular response and because I have lots of pictures.

This is the rear view but there are so many views to enjoy at Chateau Vaux le Vicomte

Inside is divine too.

I love this game room.

Chairs to die for.

And tables and cache pots.

The dinner table.

Macarons are here too!

A window view...luscious is it not?

Chateau Vaux le Vicomte is a short 25 minute train ride from Gare de Lyon and then a shuttle bus trip. I've yet to visit when they are having one of their candle light evenings of music and dinner. They will be open until November 8th this year, but if you can't make it, you could watch one of the many films made onsight at Vaux, like Marie-Antoinette, Ridicule, Moliere and a favorite of mine, Vatel.
BONNE WEEK-END!

  1. What a beautiful place. Thanks for sharing it.
Another wonderful painting. Those dark background washes are so dramatic.

  2. Part 2 is as gorgeous as the 1st... that blue chaise lounge was to die for! I've made my plans and will taking your tip and visiting the chateaux in two weekends when I'm in Paris for work!
Merci Bien for introducing me to a castle I really should have known about!

  5. Ooh la la, thanks for this encore. I will have fun looking at it over the weekend again and again. That little corner wih the game table must have been the inspiration for my frien Abby's. It has the very same feel. A small intime in the midst of things. Romantic, French... wow,, now I have to find some of those films. What would we do without all this gorgeousness you share? ...just beautiful, merci.

  6. So stunning! I traveled all through the Loire Valley and saw some beautiful chateaux there but I don't think I've ever seen this particular one until your photos and posts. Those grounds are lovely. Thanks for the introduction! your watercolor is very fitting for the elegant rooms and colors here, Carol!

Delightful WC of basket of flowers.

How did you manage to NOT include any people in the fine photos of the interior of Chateau Vaux le Vicomte ?
The photos appear to have been taken during multiple visits since it is sunny in some shots and misty in others.
