    Dear Carol,
as usual you know exactly how to put a spell on something with your artistic sense.
    Thank you.
I´ll never forget what I was doing that day. In Spain it was lunch time and we were at the table watching the news.I can remember what I was eating, all that happened and the silence that broke into that ordinary day.
It is strange the way life choses to turn an anodine one into an unforgettable other.

  4. Beautiful tribute with a lovely painting.
I really love the dark (prussian..? ) blue background and the flair of white, as if a light of hope on a dark day.

"I like spring, but it is too young. I like summer, but it is too proud. So I like best of all autumn, because its tone is mellower, its colours are richer, and it is tinged with a little sorrow. Its golden richness speaks not of the innocence of spring, nor the power of summer, but of the mellowness and kindly wisdom of approaching age. It knows the limitations of life and its content." - Lin Yutang

    Hi Carol,

I’ve been enjoying your blog for the last 6 months since a friend sent me the link, and I have been recommending it to every Francophile I know.

I’ll be in Paris next Friday, Saturday, and Sunday morning before heading down to Roanne (an hour from Lyon) for a week-long course in French in the a.m. and Chocolate in the p.m. Pas mal, n”est-ce pas?

Do you know of any events/exhibitions off the beaten path that you would recommend? The forecast is for rain, so my usual pleasure of walking and sitting in les jardins du luxenbourg may be thwarted.

Thanks so much for the daily visual pleasures in Paris Breakfast.

    Best,

    Bernice

  12. Carol, this just says it all. Beautiful. I met two students today whose family members were killed on that awful day...we're all connected today, for sure...
