Paris Gratifications...

#166B Rose in a glass, original watercolor,9" x 11"
Taking a Paris rose...
And bringing it inside to paint in a still life...
That is one of the great pleasures of painting in Paris.
Especially when there's a plethora of beautiful objects to paint where ever you look...
And particularly beautiful food! The trick is to restrain your need for instant gratification... Like munching a macaron in the street, right out the door of the patisserie...
Especially for one who's skills at restraint are not fully developed.
Life is full of challanges.
To eat or to paint?
That is the question!
What would you do?
BONNE JOURNEE!

  1. Hmmmmm...I say do both--eat WHILE you're painting! ;))

Carol, you don’t know it but you’re one of my best friends; your Paris Breakfasts site is a big highlight to my days.
I so admire your photography, your paintings, your zest for life and your all out passion for everything you do.

  11. hmmmm...I would have to do like one of your other readers and buy double so I could eat AND paint the thing (well, maybe I would have enough restraint to paint first and then eat after). Nope, I say buy double and maybe send the extra to a nieghbor along with the painting itself! Tres generous! ;)

  14. Now that you mention it, it does look odd - most perceptive on your part Jill!
That's a bunch of baby rose buds...
    Sweet no?

Snap a picture, eat, use picture as reference and paint.
You gotta have the self control to carefully follow a well designed plan to be successful.

  16. The hazards of painting delicious pastries and sweet smelling roses...a tisane or two, and off my mind goes on the scents and colors and before I know it, the crumbs are on my lips...
These are beautiful. I love the rosebuds in the glass tea pot. Civility , a place of gentle and arrogant civility...ahh, temptation itself.

( Phew, the Atlantic link, that was a sinking ship from the get go, huh? Thanks for showing it to me. )
