Remember back in March I showed you this arresting poster for the Paris in Color exhibit at the Hotel de Ville (city hall)? Exhibits are FREE at the Hotel de Ville by the way.Well I did get to attend the show and it was well worth it!A photo exhibit celebrating the 100-year anniversary of color photography.
Since it was invented by the Lumière.But even more so a visual history of Paris and how it used to look... The pictures speak for themselves. Old Paris. With it's low roof tops and narrow streets.Hasn't change that much where Rick lives, in the 13th arrondissement - La Butte Aux Cailles But the dogs have definitely gotten smaller! Watch the video for more Paris!

Carol, I love these photos--they are absolutely amazing! Some so touching, some so elegant, all so interesting. Thanks for posting them--I really enjoyed these. Each one is a painting.
ReplyDeleteOh I love these too. Sue is right Each one IS a painting. I especially love the flower Girl.
ReplyDeleteI feel like I'm there!
ReplyDeleteamazing!
ReplyDeleteLove the photos - especially those with the black Poodle and the woman. The woman's suit is so chic and if her hem were a bit shorter her suit would be au courant.

Now, there is a Grace Kelly exhibit at the same place; I hope I can see it!
ReplyDeleteOh, Carol - I just stumbled into your blog and you're killing me! We returned from our third trip to Paris a few days ago, and I'm still munching on my sea salt caramels right now. I photograph all my Paris breakfasts, and my pastel Laduree macarons, too Keep up your lovely blog!

ReplyDeleteAmazing how little the look of the city has changed! Why do we Americans build throw-away buildings like strip malls, whose faces are torn off and re-done every 10 or 15 years? Why do we build "value-engineered" (read: use cheaper materials to reduce the bottom line) buildings instead of quality buildings? Is it a means of achieving the promise of the American Dream....by doing it cheaply, everyone can aspire to ownership...or have we traditionally had so many resources that we felt no need to conserve them?
