During my childhood in Denmark I climbed up many a mirabelle tree to eat a bunch of them or to bring them back home, where my mum made jam of them. Funnily enough I don't recall ever getting tummy aches despite the huge amount of mirabelles I ate. Yesterday I started making jam with my other favourite the Reine Claude plum. Can't wait to taste it today on fresh bread from my favourite French bakery. And I just might go on the hunt for delicious Tartes aux mirabelles, like you did!!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26546687.post-55568513657828595022013-09-20T04:14:33.748-04:002013-09-20T04:14:33.748-04:00I love Paris so much, as you know. These mirabelles look so astonishing. I'd love to try them and the mirabelle tartes! How fun to compare and contrast two tartes. I love doing things like that too. Lovely to see the nuts and mushrooms coming into season too. I love the possibility of selecting the smaller apples, and now have a little collection to admire, and perhaps even draw or paint.

Well. I am going to eat one of these charmers in a few minutes, just to test this season's crop.

Unrelated/a bit related question for you. I remember your mentioning ages ago that you like DaVinci brushes and that Blick carried the brand. Yes...indeed they do, and lots of varieties. Would you please send me an email about which of these varieties you like best, and if the "rounds" are good. I've not used them before, and would like to make a trip over to Bond St. (NYC version) to see what might be good to test.

xoFranceshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08352407314710067616noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26546687.post-87558305000237011362013-09-19T20:35:51.356-04:002013-09-19T20:35:51.356-04:00My heart stopped when you said the new owners cut ...My heart stopped when you said the new owners cut down the trees!!!!!!!!!sillygirlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09971787430517830586noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26546687.post-42682710037486015672013-09-19T17:54:02.960-04:002013-09-19T17:54:02.960-04:00Never heard of them, but I love the photos!
