Paris Stacks

Macaroon box,watercolor, 9" x 11"

This was going to be a post about...

The Stacking candy boxes I see over and over in Paris arranged in graduating sizes and price.
Who could forget these stacked Warholesque boxes.
Salon du Chocolat brings out the French stackeurs - brick by brick, walls of French nougat...
Horizontal stacking of pate de fruits.
It's only natural to stack up blue and white plates at the brocante.
I was smitten by the stacked lunchboxes at Fauchon. I saved mine, dragged it home. It's here somewhere...
An example of elevated stacking at Chateau Vaux le Vicomte...
And the real thing....
A stacked gourmand print.

A poster in the Metro- a stack of pomme...

The best stack of all - macarons with the help from some chewing gum to get these babies to behave.
BONJOUR PARIS STACKS!

  5. Please post some more fashion photo’s when you get a chance. I follow Garance Dore’s blog, nice, but yours is so much more “real” real people, not posed.

I am mad about your photo’s of Parisian’s, café’s, markets …..and of course Fashion, what’s hot this year??

I paint too, mostly oils, just love love love your water colours!!
    With kind regards,
    Paola

PAOLA - much as I would love to walk in Garance shoes (what a compliment!) I um...live in Astoria as mentioned above. I'm not good as asking for ppl. to pose for me. i.e. turnaround and show me what yr wearing. I chase after them and shoot them in the back..that doesn't sound right but it is what I do when in Paris.
    c'est la vie.

    Maybe I should have a

  12. Je viens de vous découvrir à <> -- et je suis heureuse pour ça! Je m'appelle Carol aussi, et je suis francophile. I hope that that is the correct French word to say that I LOVE everything French. I am not currently a Blog member anywhere, but would love to get in touch with you. I am SO looking forward to returning to France for a visit, have often thought of moving there, but at the very least, spending more summers or other extended times there. I have visited France only in the summer. Peut-être I should choose another time of year for my next visit...

You are doing exactly what I would like to do -- and how could you have said it better? You couldn't have. Wandering around the streets of Paris like E.T. sounds perfect!
Mes meilleurs voeux à vous, Carol!

  14. A stack of ANYTHING from Laduree would be divine! I love your sweet painting. I kept my macaron and chocolate boxes from Laduree and keep little bits of things in them in my kitchen. Sweet memories.

  21. CARAMELS, je t'aime!!!
I happen to love Fauchon's caramels-they are straight up caramel with not almond bits floating in them.
The priciest caramels are at Jacques Genin and supposed to be the best..
La Maison du chocolat has lovely caramels
Or you can just pick up the regional Brittany caramels au sel du beurre at CDG-the shop has you enter customs has tons of them.
    Very dangerous!

  22. I have to agree, the best stack of all is a stack of macaroons bien sur!
Speaking of macaroons, come check out my latest post. There is a special section on macaroons and you're in it so to speak :)
