Le Pourpre et le Noir

The other day Margaret said...I am really enjoying your blogs from Paris! A question...what are they wearing in Paris this week? It looks as though everyone is very casual.
Yesterday I had expert Parisien, Anne Corrons as my fashion guide to les nouveaux Looks Automne. Remember, Anne has the blog, MesVitrines NYC. Now she's back in Paris shooting les vitirines ici.
And Anne says: Le Noire et le Pourpre are the trend/tendance this year.
Suddenly I began seeing black and purple everywhere!
And sleeveless fur shrugs are in!!!
And these shorts...
So where should you go for these goodies?
Les Petites par exemple is very in.
Oh another wrapped look....
And Zadig et Voltaire is hot hot hot! *Note the purple in the vitrine..
Plus, did I say that Anne says the skinny pants are still in..?
Anne says ALL Parisien girls shop at Le Comptoires des Contonniers. Oui, c'est vrai...
And Sandro is another not-to-be-missed boutique. These can all be found in the Marais by the way.
Did I mention that Carla Bruni shops at Zadig et Voltaire? That's what Anne says and she knows. Please stop by Anne's MesVitrines NYC for more inside dirt on Paris fashion and vitrines.
BONNE SHOPPING!

Well, Carol, I love purple, so I indulged this year.

One of the reasons for the popularity of this color is that the new Fist Lady, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, wears a lot of purple. She is obviously a trend setter.

Carla also made ballet flats very popular this year (which makes me happy as well because I am taller than average, and no longer in my twenties, so these are the perfect shoes for me...)

  2. Like I have said before, you and Carla have a lot in common.;-)

I am so happy to hear that purple is in, as I have just recently bought a lot of it. And, I have a closet full of black. So,it makes the fact that I cannot pop into Zadig et Voltaire a little less painful.

    Lovely post!

The purple tote at Le Petites is adorable - and what trend for the shoes Carol... high, low - pointy toe, round or square?

I have a silly question. I'm planning to spend the entire month of April in Paris, taking art and language classes, for my "big" birthday.
What on earth do Parisian women wear on their feet in the rain? I'm sure they wouldn't be caught dead in the big clunky rain boots found in the US, and I wouldn't want to use up so much of my suitcase packing them anyway.
Also, do you know of anyone wonderful who teaches painting in Paris? I'm mostly a watercolorist, but took a class in Provence in oil using a palette knife. Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much for your newsletter.....it always makes me happy to get a taste of Paris and your artwork!

Many thanks for today's blog on Paris fashion. I loved all the links and getting a sense of what women are wearing. And I must say it was nice to see my name and question on your blog!

If I run into a macarons when I am dog sitting in Monaco at Christmas, I'll send photos to you just for fun.

    Cheers,
    Margaret

The Paris fashions are following London Fashion week, its purple down to lilac here and fur waistcoats are the thing but only in faux fur.
But jeans are from skinny to very wide and huge handbags so the UK fashion have gone over the channel. Look out for dresses for posh places at night as its the empress design lots of gathers from the bust line a if your budget doesn't reach that all you do is wear a belt under the bust line over a summer dress and your right in fashion, nearly forgot, shoes laced up to the ankle, very high with platforms but the toes have to be out,

Wonderful fashion post today! Yes, purple is all the rage, even here on the West Coast. I love the Zadig & Voltaire boutique and yes, every Parisian lady shops at Le Comptoires des Contonniers! When I worked at Nestlé France, all the 20 & 30 somethings always highly recommended that shop. Can't wait for more!

That sleeveless rabbit fur shrug! I'd snap it up in a second except that it might make me resemble a long eared one...and I might get shot during Rabbit Season.
