Pylones

It's PIU PIU's bIRTHDAY It's Piu Piu's birthday today!
A year ago I found Piu Piu in PYLONES' window and couldn't resist...
Pylones Apoxy necklace I discovered PYLONES 17 years ago when I admired cookbook author Dori Greenspan's plastic necklace at a party.
Next trip I made a beeline for PYLONES' then tiny closet-size shop in Galerie Vivienne.
Now they have 6 shops in Paris, 2 in New York + Hong Kong + THE WORLD
I got the necklace, the earings, and the bracelet.
I still wear them and I still get compliments.
Pylones Grater Ladies Pylones was created 20 years ago
with the intention of making small colorful items, especially animals - useful toys for adults.
I wish I'd gotten this kitchen grater last trip...
Whether you buy something or not...
Their merchandise never fails to amuse.
It's Yellow Bird's BIRTHDAYIt's Yellow Bird's birthday too,
He's a New York bird from Elie Zabar's Kids store on Madison Avenue...
I saw this big 16" wide bag the previous Paris trip but resisted.
Naturally I was thinking about it for months...

I had to pick it up at PYLONES and it did carry home alot of treasures
It's made by
www.LAMARELLE.net
Isn't it funny how you can obsess about THE ONE THING you didn't buy...
And the next trip's sole purpose is to get that ONE THING!?
Here are PYLONES hours...
Open EVERY DAY!
YAY

I saw those graters in the Marais two years ago when I was there, and I, too, have regretted not having bought one! I think about it every time I use the crappy one I bought at the grocery store, the one with the dull blade holes and broken plastic frame ....

P.S. Yes, when ARE you going to Paris?

    I love those bags.
We bought one at Bon Marché when we were there last year.
A different style than yours, but the same artist.
    They are fun, aren't they?

I *didn't* buy a pair of Chanel shoes when I was in Paris for my 30th birthday. I've always regretted it. I've searched for them everywhere since and can't find them. I guess je regrette quelque chose after all.

I've been reading your posts for some time now and I really enjoy reading you each morning. I'm writing because I fell in love with the bag that you bought. I went to their website and I was wondering if you have had any experience with ordering from them.
I really, really want that bag and I don't think that I'll be visiting Paris for a while.
Too bad because my friend just returned yesterday!!
    Should I just order it?
    haha

It looks as fresh and inventive as ever!

    Bravo.

I am glad Piu Piu wasn't a bird left behind.

  14. I love Pylones! I had no idea they had been around so long. They seem so uber trendy. :) So THAT'S where Piu Piu came from. Joyeux Anniversaire, Piu Piu!

  15. P.S. I regret not buying the Eiffel Tower top (children's toy top) at Pylones this last trip. YES, I know it's ridiculous, but...an Eiffel Tower top. I think I am collecting tops.

Pylones is 1st on my list for my next ny trip!
Your note about regret is sooooo true. Just when I think I'm showing restraint, I'm really showing BAD judgement! :-)

I received that bird as a gift...it is so annoying!Even a light breeze makes the bird chirp.

    The BIRD does chrip!
    This is true.
The trick is to put him next to something metalic/magnetic
Or else put the bit of paper back in his bum to stop the chirpping.
    Hmmm..
You can always muffle him with a pillow as I am forced to do on occasion :)

Oh!!! those graters are really GREAT!!!
Had I one, I would make cheese soufflés twice a day !?!

"La Marelle"... I do not know that shop, but I like its name. (matches the designs!)
Do you know what a "marelle" is? All French children LOVE it. You find plenty of them in school playgrounds:

Now is that writing (on the "ardoise") your own?!?

For anyone considering ordering, I just ordered something off the website, it turned up in half the predicted time, very well packed, with a free gift.

I will be buying more. Definitely recommended!

I love, love, love Pylones! My favorite stores (there are 4) in NYC! But, if are not lucky enough to visit the store in person you can always shop for goodies on their website www.pylones-usa.com.
